MEDALISTS
Golfers who complete the Adirondack Golf Trail Challenge are known as “Medalists” and will qualify for their Adirondack Golf Trail Medalist patch, invitations to exclusive events and other customized keepsakes to showcase their accomplishment.
STATISTICS
The Adirondack Golf Trail is 437 holes long made up of 245 par fours, 121 par threes, and 74 par fives. Over the Challenge, golfers will hike (or ride) 147,479 yards of golf course equaling nearly 83 miles of Adirondack beauty.
GET ACTIVE
The Adirondacks are an active place where people come to hike, bike, skate, ski, swim, run, snowboard, kayak, canoe, climb, snowmobile and yes… even golf! We also invented the Adirondack chair for ultimate relaxation after an active day with friends.
The Adirondack Golf Trail is a self-paced golf challenge over the 32 golf courses inside the Adirondack Park’s designated Blue Line. From well-known Adirondack golf courses and towns such as the Lake Placid’s Whiteface Club & Resort, Old Forge’s Thendara Golf Club, and Lake George’s many golf courses such as the Top of the World Golf Resort and The Sagamore Resort to the smaller hamlets of Minerva, Lake Pleasant, and Star Lake, golf touches each of the Adirondack region’s 6 million acres.

Forever Wild
Whether you are planning an Adirondack golf course outing alone or with family and friends, the Adirondack Golf Trail can present your party with a fun and exciting golf challenge right here in the pristine Adirondack Park.
Since the signing of the “Forever Wild” clause in the New York State Constitution, many Adirondack region golf courses have come and gone due to economic forces and changes in vacation culture even as recent as 2017 when AuSable Valley Golf Course in AuSable Forks closed its doors. The Adirondack Golf Trail seeks to stop this phenomenon and shore up the remaining golf courses inside the Adirondack Blue Line where there is truly a golf course for everyone.
The primary goals of the Adirondack Golf Trail are to:
- Create a fun, achievable “Challenge” for golfers of all abilities.
- Drive rounds to courses and towns inside the Adirondack Blue Line.
- Celebrate the rich history of golfing in and around the Adirondack Park.
Within the Adirondack’s Blue Line there are short 9 hole golf courses (15 in total), championship caliber courses designed by greats such as Donald Ross (Sagamore Golf Club, Thendara Golf Club, Tupper Lake Golf Club) and Alister MacKenzie (Lake Placid Club) and even a unique 14 hole golf course layout in Port Kent, NY (Harmony Golf Club) on the Lake Champlain coast where the steamboats docked in the early 1900s.
Where Champions Play
Golf greats such as Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Lee Elder, Walter Hagen, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Patti Sheehan, Gary Player and Lake Placid’s native son Craig Wood (1941 US Open and Masters Tournament winner) have graced these same fairways.
With nearly 150,000 yards of golf courses laid out in the Adirondacks open from Spring when the trees are budding to the late Fall when leaf peeping is in its full glory, there are plenty of reasons (437 holes of Adirondack golfing to be exact…) to take the trail less traveled and enjoy a round of Adirondack golf with friends.
